Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging are about recognizing practices and realities of bias, discrimination, racism, and marginalization that people experience. It is the District's goal to create opportunity and access for a culture shift to occur in the organization to meet the unmet, and unique needs of all stakeholders.
Equity Core Commitment Statements
A
pproved 10/24/22 by the Board of Education
Equitable Access:
Green Bay Area Public Schools (GBAPS) will review and revise current processes and practices that inhibit student access to high quality curriculum, instruction, support, and other educational resources, with a specific focus on the Multi-level System of Support and academic planning practices.
Culture of Excellence:
GBAPS will increase the achievement of all students through instructional and grading practices that honor and build upon the assets of every student and provide educational resources and materials that reflect the diversity of students and staff. We will actively recruit, hire and retain a diverse workforce; including, but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, diverse ability, and linguistics, with a focus on experienced educators working with the most underserved students; and provide professional learning opportunities to eliminate educational disparities between groups of students.
Welcoming and Safe Environment:
GBAPS will provide to staff, students and families learning opportunities on culturally and linguistically responsive practices, and create an inviting and inclusive environment, in all facilities, that reflects and supports the diversity of the student population, their families, and our community.
